Cylinder Head Services

For more information on the services below, see Cylinder Head Development. All prices are for labor only, with cylinder head off engine. Parts, materials and supplies are not included. Damage repairs are extra and will be quoted, as needed. Teardown, inspection fees may apply - if for any reason, you choose not to have the contracted work done, after the teardown/inspection phase of the job has been started or completed.

Repair and Restoration

While we provide a full range of repair and restorative services, every situation is different. Depending upon the extent of damage or wear, we may not recommend repairs and may suggest cylinder head replacement. This would be in cases where the repairs are not cost effective (exceeds value the head). Or, if we determine the repair may compromise safety, reliability or performance.

Teardown / Inspection

Teardown/Inspection fees are paid up-front on all engine development and re-building services upon delivery of the engine for servicing. 100% of this fee will be returned to you as credit applied towards the total cost of the contracted work. In the event you choose to opt-out (withdraw/cancel) from the contracted work for any reason, after the teardown/inspection phase of the job has been started or completed - will result in all teardown/inspection fees will being forfeited.

 * - Engine designs that have the cylinders integrated with the upper crankcase as 1-piece, will require complete engine teardown for certain operations, such as: Cylinder block machining, if deck height can't be set with kit/custom head gaskets. Piston removal, piston ring replacement and/or piston skirt work. Cylinder de-glazing, honing, boring and/or re-plating.

Cleaning & Preparation

All vehicles and/or parts should be thoroughly cleaned prior to delivery for any service. Meaning the engine (and engine parts), chassis and running gear (wheels, brakes, suspension) should be reasonably free of dirt, mud, grease, oil, brake dust, road grime, etc. Preparation includes removing any bodywork panels and other components that are not essential to the service you are coming in for.

Benefits

The better the cleaning and preparation, means the less time we spend on that aspect and the more money you save. Delivering a clean, well prepped vehicle and/or parts that is ready for service is to your advantage in other ways. Before any work is started, we perform a thorough inspection, free of charge. Minor adjustment or corrective actions will also be performed free of charge in most cases. The purpose of this inspection is to provide you with an overall evaluation of the general operating condition and to identify problem areas that may affect performance, reliability and most important.. your safety. Another benefit is, during this inspection, conditions that add complexity and/or cost to the job will likely be revealed. This helps to reduce "surprises", so you know what to expect, can make informed decisions and/or adjust your plans accordingly. In contrast, delivering a dirty machine and/or parts hides potential problems, hinders the process and can delay the work you came in for.

Options

We understand that sometimes either due to time constraints or lack of facilities, it can be inconvenient to perform the cleaning prior to delivery. If so, we can perform the required cleaning for you, at our standard labor rate, plus the cost of cleaning supplies.

* No out of area or third-party checks accepted. Checks returned due to insufficient funds are subject to any and all bank fees -and- will result in the immediate suspension of all contracted work until the issue is fully resolved.

Racer Support Discount

In our continued support of the local racing community, we offer a racer support discount on all in-shop labor. To be eligible for either discount listed below, you'll need to hold current racing credentials, be currently competing and must display our decals on both sides of your machine(s).

10% Racer Support Discount - to all licensed racers regardless of standings.

15% Racer Support Discount - to Top 10 position holders, in the current or last season.

No applications are necessary, simply show (or email) us verification that you are currently licensed and competing (if we don't already know you). Top 10 position holders should be prepared to provide verification of race results or standings.

AFM Worker Discount

In appreciation of all the hard working folks that make AFM racing possible each weekend, we offer a 10% discount on all in-shop labor.
